God speaks through signs and wonders!
“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways…”
Hebrews 1:1 NIV
God speaks! And He uses many different ways to do it. The challenge is - are we open to hearing God in new ways? If we have seeking hearts, we’ll be able to receive His messages in more ways than one, and even more ways than we’re used to or comfortable with. Life is always in His voice and we live by the words that come out of His mouth...they just don’t always look like words.
I was preaching at a youth group not too long ago sharing a message entitled “There Is More.” The goal was to take the students deeper in the Spirit. I told them in order to access the “more” they’d need to jump the hurdles of familiarity and offense, and stir up hunger. Some were healed and some got touched by the power of the Holy Spirit. It was an impactful night.
After the service a young girl came up with a youth leader and showed us what she found. It was a diamond! I believe it was supernatural.
I had heard of this stuff happening before, but I hadn’t experienced it myself. We were all amazed and took pictures. Actually, the picture you see above was taken that night.
Yet it was the backstory that made it even more powerful.
The girl who found it happens to be one of the youngest of 5 talented siblings. Her older sister is the worship leader of the youth group and earlier in the service I gave her a pretty big prophetic word about her calling. From what I know, it can be a struggle for her to feel valued in an environment where everyone around her is excelling and garnering all the attention and she feels...well...just, normal.
Except when service ends, she looks in front of where she was sitting and a diamond was right there on the ground! And what is more, it was a princess cut!
It would’ve been one thing for me to prophesy to her: “The Lord says you are valuable, you are His daughter, His princess.”
It’s another thing for Him to drop one of the most valuable precious stones in the world and have it be shaped in a princess cut! What a way to speak!
God speaks through signs and wonders!
Here’s a few of the unusual signs and wonders I’ve experienced...and they all carry a message from God.
1. Jewels
Let’s just start there since you just read the testimony.
Isaiah wrote in 61:10:
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
He relates the garments of salvation to a bride wearing jewels!
Honestly, I’ve always read this stuff as metaphorical...until it started happening in the natural.
If signs point to something, what if the sign is pointing to the message God is trying to say?
And that message could vary depending on what God wants to say!
For the young girl, it was a message of value and identity.
Diamonds also appear on the ephod of the priests. They represent one of the tribes of Israel. The message could then be of priesthood before the Lord. (Ex. 28:15-20)
Jewels also appear on the foundations of the wall of the new Jerusalem in Revelation 21:19-20. We pray “on earth as it is in heaven”, we shouldn’t be surprised when it comes!
2. Gold
One time we were hanging out before a meeting at the Fire & Glory Outpouring, talking about God, and then gold dust starting appearing on everyone! Even my two sons got it! You can check it out here on my Instagram of my youngest, Everett, getting gold glitter on his head!
Gold is the color of glory and Isaiah prophesied that “...His glory will be seen upon you.” (Is. 60:2)
It was a physical manifestation of that scripture!
I’ve noticed that when this sign happens, it sometimes seems to come from within.
Let me explain.
The ark of the covenant was made out of acacia wood, then overlaid with gold. It not only represented the Presence of God, it was a foreshadow of Christ who was fully God (gold) and fully man (wood).
Scripture goes on to tell us that now it’s “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Col. 1:27)
So when the gold seems to come from within, it’s a physical sign of our new creation nature, and Christ in us becoming manifest. We are partakers of the divine nature! (2 Peter 1:4)
3. Feathers
“He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge”
Psalm 91:4
Again, I thought all of this stuff was metaphors!
But what do you do when feathers start randomly appearing?!
I guess you could rebuke it if you want, but what if God is trying to talk to you?
Psalm 91 is all about God’s protection. If a feather floats past you, maybe God is trying to let you know He’s got your back! God could be speaking to you about His protection, His nearness, or how He’s able to keep you.
It could also be a sign of the ministering angels sent to help you or the people around you.
You gotta ask God!
4. Oil
“But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox;
I have been anointed with fresh oil.”
Psalm 92:10
We’ve seen supernatural oil just start coming out of people’s hands.
It’s a sign of a fresh anointing!
Just like a car needs to change its oil, we need fresh oil!
If the psalmist said there’s fresh oil, that means there’s stale oil. Many believers are trying to function off of a stale or old oil. It’s like stale crusty religion. We need a fresh touch, a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit in order to do the things God has called us to!
5. Fragrance
One of the coolest things that happens is when the Lord releases supernatural fragrances.
We’ve experienced fragrances like eucalyptus, orange, blueberry, lavender and vanilla.
“All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia,
Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad.”
Psalm 45:8
This is a prophecy about Jesus and how His robes have a scent to them!
“Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out.”
Song 1:3 NIV
The name of the Lord is like fragrant perfume!
The fragrance can be pointing to His nearness, intimacy with the Lord, and so much more!
The key is focus on Jesus and ask Him what He’s saying to you. Search the scripture for answers!
God speaks through signs and wonders! He is more creative than we can imagine! Have a seeking heart and look to see what God would speak to you!
Lord Jesus, I pray that You would release signs and wonders over those who reading. Let the manifestation of Your glory be released right now in Jesus name!
Question: How has God has spoken to you through signs and wonders? What would you like to see or experience?
